Travel behavior in tourism: our unique simulation
A simulation is an imitation of reality. The great advantage of a simulation is that it takes place in a controlled, well-defined environment. The lessons learned from a simulation can be used to make sensible, well-considered and supported decisions in reality to avoid mistakes.
Model-centric simulation tool
In recent months, our partner HZ University of Applied Sciences has worked as a pilot partner of the European project Mobility Opportunities Valuable to Everybody (MOVE) on the development of a model-centric simulation tool. This tool has been created based on an existing simulation technique previously developed in another European project called SCITHOS where CELTH contributed to.
Simulation of the travel behavior of visitors in a tourist region
When sufficient relevant data is available, the SCITHOS simulation tool makes it possible to simulate the travel behavior of visitors in a tourist region with a semi-rural character (as a basic scenario). The simulation tool makes the data transparent for further analysis and discussion. In addition, this simulation tool can contribute to the joint development and testing of new innovative and sustainable mobility initiatives by adding alternative scenarios.
