CELTH Conscious Destinations Agenda in UNWTO G20 report

CELTH's Conscious Destinations Agenda is included in the UNWTO ‘G20 Bali Guidelines for Strengthening Communities and MSME’s as Tourism Transformation Agents - A People-centred Recovery’.

This latest report provides guidance and inspired examples from many countries around human capital, innovation, the role of local communities, climate action and policy. One of those inspiring examples is the Conscious Destinations Agenda, where in CELTH's vision the destination plays a central role because all sub-sectors and actors come together there.

The report's motto is 'Recover Together, Recover Stronger' and sees micro & SMEs and communities as the most valuable partners in the tourism chain. UNWTO wants to work with its recovery plans on a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable tourism sector. Ultimately, UNWTO expects the tourism sector to emerge stronger and better from the crisis through an acceleration of digitisation, the growth of cultural and creative sectors, increased consumer demand for sustainable experiences, more ethical business practices and direct interaction with communities. This will lead to lower visitor density, more diversified and more valuable tourism developments, and a more equal distribution of the benefits of tourism.

The Dutch examples in the report concern the hospitality tool of KHN and NBTC, the step-by-step plan for digital experiences of NBTC, the Cheese Valley project, the National Data Alliance and the aforementioned Agenda Conscious Destinations of CELTH.
