Carbon footprint of all types of travel to and from the Netherlands
Tourism plays an important role in total CO2 emissions worldwide. The expectation for the coming years is that these emissions will grow due to the growth of tourism and in particular aviation and the limited emission reduction in the sector. This while we have an important task in accordance with the Paris Climate Agreement. Detailed information about the carbon footprint of visitors is becoming increasingly important to be able to measure and track emissions and targets.
Business travel emissions
For several years now, the Center for Sustainability, Tourism and Transport (CSTT) of Breda University of Applied Sciences has provided insight into the carbon footprint of Dutch holidaymakers and international visitors to the Netherlands. This provides a time series of insights into CO2 emissions. In addition to the carbon footprint of holidaymakers, we have now also measured the emissions from business travel for the first time within the Data & Development Lab (DDL).
