Our mission
CELTH, the Centre of Expertise Leisure, Tourism & Hospitality, is one of fifty Centres of Expertise in the Netherlands. CELTH is an important part of the knowledge infrastructure in the Netherlands within the domain of Leisure, Tourism & Hospitality.
Centres of Expertise are public-private partnerships between universities of applied sciences and the professional field, with a sharp focus on societal challenges. Centres invest in research & innovation, educational innovation and lifelong learning. Within the hospitality domain, CELTH is the only Centre of Expertise.
With science-based and independent practice-oriented research, CELTH aims to contribute to the transformation of the domain towards a sustainable future. CELTH stands for a unique network collaboration between research, education and entrepreneurs. Our research focuses on three overarching themes: Conscious Destinations Agenda, Sustainability Research Agenda and Leisure for a better Society. CELTH is a network organization that brings experts from the universities of applied sciences in Vlissingen, Breda and Leeuwarden together with the professional field. Projects involve experts from several colleges. Where possible, other knowledge partners are also involved, both colleges and universities.
In co-creation, we develop research projects to help the sector and destinations with knowledge for innovation and sustainable development. Due to their independent position, colleges are de facto the knowledge and research partner for parties. Here, CELTH acts as a network connector between demand & market and expertise & education. We share this knowledge through various publications, networks and meetings for the field.
