National Data Alliance launches new data strategy
CELTH, together with NBTC, CBS and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, has worked intensively over the past year to develop the National Data Strategy for Tourism and Recreation. This strategy was published today. In it, CELTH is partly in charge of innovation.
The aim of the National Data Strategy is to develop, share and apply relevant data and insights about and for all parties within the tourism and recreation domain for better informed (policy) choices. This strategy should guide data policy and its implementation in the coming years. CELTH will remain closely involved in this in its networks.
The Nationale Data Strategie was commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate to be developed by the National Data Alliance. On behalf of CELTH, Diana Korteweg Maris of the HZ Knowledge Centre for Coastal Tourism participated in the programme committee: "This strategy will guide the work of the LDA, but we hope it will also be an invitation for all partners in the field to contribute to this strategy and the development of policy-relevant data."
In addition to the all-important baseline data, the strategy also pays ample attention to innovation through new data collection techniques and data pilots. CELTH is taking up that gauntlet and will continue to work with partners in the Data & Development Lab to develop and test innovative research methods and data applications to contribute to innovation in tourism and leisure data. In addition, CELTH will focus on working with data sources and making conscious data-driven choices in all courses.
